Khadijah Mellah is a young black Muslim woman that made history in 2019 as the first Hijabi jockey to ride and win a British horse race.

On what drives her, she says, "I want to be a role model and inspiration for young girls from marginalised and diverse ethnic backgrounds. I represent defying odds to be a successful in a field where I stand alone."

Khadijah is dedicated to her training and horses but lives a vibrant and active lifestyle. She has completed a mechanical engineering degree and is a motorsports enthusiast. Horsepower in all forms is her speciality.

Fun fact about Khadijah? She regularly gets invited to events hosted by the Royal Family and has a black belt in karate.
